Classes

Options For Youth curriculum meets California state and Common Core standards and offers University of California and California State University approved admission eligible courses.

While the majority of an OFY student’s class load is completed through independent study, OFY also offers and encourages students to participate in Small Group Instruction (SGI) classes for Math, Science, and English courses. SGI classroom environments are similar to traditional school classrooms, but by limiting the class size (5-10 students), each student receives the attention necessary to succeed. In addition to working on assignments individually, SGI participants collaborate with fellow classmates regularly, learning together and supporting one another’s success.

In addition to independent and small group instruction, students can enroll in online classes. These courses offer students an additional level of schedule flexibility and access to advanced and AP coursework. Online classes can take place anywhere students have access to the internet. All students are assessed both electronically and by written work and must maintain regular appointments with their teacher.
