Options for Youth (OFY) offers a hybrid learning model that puts students in control of their learning while providing the guidance they need to thrive. Every plan is customized to a student’s strengths, challenges, post grad goals, and life outside of school, so they can focus on what matters most.
Unlike traditional classrooms where every student moves at the same pace, OFY allows students to work at their own pace, typically focusing on no more than two core subjects at a time. This ensures students stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.
Appointments with Your Independent Study Teacher
As part of OFL’s hybrid learning model, students are required to meet with their Independent Study teacher twice each week. These scheduled appointments are a key part of how we support student success. During these sessions, teachers:
- Review coursework and assigned packets
- Provide individualized guidance and feedback
- Administer quizzes and tests
- Recommend additional support, including Small Group Instruction (SGI) and tutoring, when needed
Consistent attendance is essential. These appointments help students stay organized, understand their progress, and get the support they need to move confidently toward graduation.
Collaborative Small Group Instruction (SGI)
For English, Math, and Science, students also have access to Small Group Instruction (SGI):
- Led by highly skilled, single-subject instructors
- Small, distraction-free classrooms
- Collaborative, hands-on learning
- Reinforces and expands understanding
Why OFY Hybrid Learning Works
- Personalized pace and focus
- Twice-weekly teacher appointments for accountability
- Small-group instruction in core subjects
- Flexible scheduling tailored to each student
- Safe, focused learning environments
At OFY, we combine flexibility with structure to empower students to achieve their academic potential while receiving the guidance they need to succeed.
